Borgarfjörður · Vesturland
Hótel Stafholt is a countryside boutique hotel surrounded by the vast landscapes of Borgarfjörður—a great base for exploring Borgarfjörður and the West Iceland region.
Welcome
Stafholt sits in the wide green fields in the center of Borgarfjörður, 25 km from the town of Borgarnes and about an hour from Reykjavík. The hotel grew out of a farm — and that homely feeling has never left the building.
Mornings begin with a generous breakfast of Icelandic bread, skyr and fresh coffee. Evenings end by the window, watching the light shift across the fields — and on clear winter nights, the northern lights overhead.
Why Stafholt
In the heart of West Iceland — on the way to Snæfellsnes and the Highlands, yet only an hour from Reykjavík.
A hotel with heart. Local hosts who know every road, river and hot spring nearby.
Dark countryside skies make Stafholt one of the best places in West Iceland to watch and experience the aurora.

"An absolute gem in West Iceland. The Aurora Cabin was magical — we watched the northern lights from bed. Breakfast was generous and the hosts could not have been kinder."
"Perfect base for exploring Borgarfjörður. The hot tub under the stars was a highlight after a long day of waterfalls and lava caves. Will absolutely return."
"Quiet countryside setting with stunning mountain views. The superior room was spacious and beautifully kept. The restaurant on site was a lovely surprise — excellent lamb."
"We loved our room which had real linen sheets and a comfortable bathroom. The lobby was simple but very comfortable with real leather couches. Every area of the hotel was very clean and really quiet. The staff were really nice too. If not for our short allotted time, we would love to stay for a week."
"A peaceful retreat after busy days on the road. The Barn room felt private and cosy, and we loved the countryside walks right from the door."
"Frábær gisting í fallegu umhverfi. Starfsfólkið var einstaklega elskulegt og morgunmaturinn í sérflokki. Mæli hiklaust með Hótel Stafholti."
"We stopped by the restaurant at Hotel Stafholt. The staff was very friendly and everything looked cosy. Mom said the lamb was the absolute best she has ever tasted in a restaurant. My fish dish was also very tasty. The view is spectacular and we left very happy."
"Warm welcome after a long day of travel. Kind host. Quaint, comfortable and clean. Delicious soup and breakfast buffet. Worth the drive if out of the way."
